Thank you for considering my experiences. I’ll try to keep this short and sweet, but here is me in a nutshell:

I’m a Communications professional with a keen interest in Digital Marketing and Public Relations.

I was the PR Assistant for a local Public Relations Firm, and I was also the Special Projects Assistant for SFU Career Services at Simon Fraser University

I love all things Marketing & Public Relations! I keep up with industry blogs, which include Ragan.com, Ad Week, and Marketing Magazine, to name a few.

In my spare time, I ride motorcycles, DJ, and own two cats!

Here are some of my writing samples that I am most proud of. I had to learn how to write for an organization, represent the brand with a fun and engaging attitude, as well as research ideas for weekly themed blogs catered to the student body! My blog posts surprisingly averaged over 300 reads!

Additionally, I have great technical writing abilities: my most recent accomplishment is setting precedent for a training manual for my Co-op position at SFU Career Services. The goal was to formalize and establish concrete goals and responsibilities for future students in my position, and provides transparency.

I also created a radio communications manual during my tenure planning a nation-wide marketing case competition. It was quite a challenge trying to teach people how to communicate effectively.

Here are my some of my works designed using Illustrator, InDesign, as well as Photoshop.

Career Insider Newsletter

Over 60 weekly newsletters sent to over 6000 students

And of course, Illustrator to design aesthetic posters! From time to time I may use Photoshop to re-size/re-touch images

I love storytelling! As an avid designer/marketer, I believe storytelling is a shared experience and creativity is required to tell stories that connect and resonate with people. Below you will find a specific example of my presentation skills:

In the above example, this was a business proposal/industry analysis on the recruitment industry and the viability of creating a new business entrant in Vancouver’s market. Powerpoint is so 2000s. Prezi is the new marketing standard for presenting ideas and telling stories!

I Love #SocialMedia; In fact, here is what I use and have done in the past:

#SM Knowledge Meter

Campaigner: E-Newsletters

Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio; I want to work with you!

You’ve seen a glimpse of what I can do and what I can bring to help support your objectives. Now the question is...where do we go from here?

Until then,

Mike Wong
